Jennie Allen started Bayley & Sage in 1997, with her first store in Wimbledon village, where she found a great community in the village. With a vision to create fresh food stores with the most delicious produce for our customers and never compromise on quality, the B&S story began.
We are an independent food retailer dedicated to quality, freshness and provenance. We want to bring a taste of the most exciting food markets to our communities.
We are often asked where our name came from, the truth is, Bayley is a son of a friend of Jennie’s, an homage to the next generation and Sage is a reference to both the herb and wisdom.
With an ethos based on authenticity, passion, and the willingness to be bold, Bayley & Sage aims to bring the spirit of the most exciting food markets and delicatessens to our local communities.
Our team of food enthusiasts curate an eclectic and ever-evolving selection of artisanal culinary experiences, and love to pass on the captivating stories behind them. Never compromising on quality and seasonality, our buyers and in-store team eagerly pick out the plumpest, ripest, most colourful and mouth-watering produce they can find, and tell you exactly where it’s from, who produced it, and why it tastes so good.
People often ask how Jennie came by the name. Bayley & Sage is in fact named partly after the son of a friend, as an homage to the next generation and combined with sage, as reference to both the herb and wisdom. Bayley & Sage was born!
