Meet the Team – Thomas

Welcome to our monthly series Meet the Team, where we spotlight the extraordinary people that make Bayley & Sage so special. This month’s feature is on Thomas, our Marylebone store manager. Read the full interview below.

1. How long have you been working at Bayley & Sage and what different roles have you held within the company? What is your role now?

I joined Bayley & Sage in June 2023 as a Shift Leader in our Parsons Green store. After around eight months, / was promoted to Store Manager in Fulham, where I spent approximately nine months. I then moved to Belgravia as Store Manager for another nine months, and l am now leading our Marylebone store as Store Manager.

It has been a fast-paced journey, and I’ve been grateful for the trust and opportunities I’ve been given to grow within the company and, of course, to all the staff who have supported me along the way and helped achieve these results.

2. What’s your favourite thing about working at Bayley & Sage?

What I enjoy most is the combination of high-quality products and strong community connection. Each store has its own personality and being able to build relationships with regular customers while leading a motivated team makes every day different and rewarding.

3. Who or what has inspired you the most throughout your career?

The person who has inspired me the most is my aunt. Her resilience and determination to achieve results, no matter the challenges, have always pushed me to aim higher and continuously improve.

4. Have you always worked in this industry? If not, what other types of roles have you held?

Yes, I’ve always worked in retail, but in different environments. Before Bayley & Sage, I worked for Human Company from 2018 to 2023, first as Assistant Store Manager and then as Store Manager.

Earlier in my career, I worked in my family’s jewellery business. That experience was incredibly valuable, it taught me the importance of exceptional customer service, attention to detail, strong supplier relationships, and what it truly means to take ownership of a business.

5. What’s the best advice you could give someone who’s just starting out in their career?

Be curious, stay humble, and don’t be afraid of responsibility. Growth often comes when you step slightly outside your comfort zone. Also, remember that consistency and attitude are just as important as talent.

6. What are some of the accomplishments you’re most proud of?

I’m proud of the progression I’ve made within Bayley & Sage in a relatively short time.

Moving through different stores and successfully leading new teams has been a big achievement for me.

More than anything, I’m proud when I see team members grow, gain confidence, and develop their skills. Contributing to other people’s development is something I value highly.

7. What are you most looking forward to this year, both personally and professionally?

Professionally, I’m looking forward to achieving strong results in Marylebone and continuing to build a motivated, high-performing team.

Personally, I want to improve my boxing skills. It’s a sport I recently discovered, and I find it incredibly beneficial for both mental focus and physical wellbeing.

8. If you had to pick one item from B&S, what would you choose?

It has to be the Biscoff tiramisu, although as a big cheese lover, choosing just one cheese would be almost impossible!

9. How do you spend your time when you’re not at Bayley & Sage?

I enjoy skiing and surfing during my holidays, and | love travelling, I try never to visit the same place twice because the world is too big to see only one part of it.

I also play tennis and enjoy staying active whenever I can.

10. What’s one interesting fact that we might not know about you?

When I was younger, I was a competitive runner and won national competitions, something not many people know about me!
