Weekend Wine: Belgvardo Toscana

Introducing Weekend Wine, our new Friday series! During the month of August, every Friday we’ll be featuring a different rosé from our newly expanded rosé line. First up is the delightful Belgvardo Toscana from Mazzei.

Hailing from Italy, this rosè from Tenuta Belguardo is a determinate wine, even more than what is usually seen in rosé wines. The grapes used, Sangiovese and Syrah, are grown in Maremma, a sunny region in Tuscany where sun and sea give their traits to the vines, and the wines.

This Italian rosé features notes of Tuscan rose. It’s vinified in contact with the skins for a few hours which leads to a rich and intense wine that tastes lovely on its own, or can be enhanced by pairing with several different dishes. Try it with tomato based pastas, pizzas, steamed fish and vegetables, and charcuterie. Intense and fresh, with cherry flower flavours and a smooth, mineral and pleasantly lasting taste. ​
